Summary
A three day course delivered in-house and covering the essential techniques for effective project management.
Project managers deploying these tools will be more effective planners and progress controllers, and will be able to provide objective and thorough analysis of progress and spend to their senior managers.
Senior managers whose project staff have attended this course will benefit from more accurate reporting of projects, with earlier detection of problems.
Who's it for?
The course is designed for project managers and other staff who wish to learn and use tools and techniques which are proven best-practice in the project management profession. It is therefore suitable for any staff engaged in the planning, monitoring or management of projects.
All the techniques taught on this course are directly transferable to any project and are designed to bring immediate benefits.
Objectives and Outline
The course will be based on a fictional case study designed to enable delegates to participate in the planning, risk management and control of a project. The course therefore comprises a great deal of practical work in teams, designed to support and reinforce the learning gained during the lecture elements.
Delegates to this course will achieve a practical understanding of:
Creation of effective Work Breakdown Structures to effectively define project scope;
Creation and analysis of activity networks, and Critical Path Analysis;
Estimation using a variety of approaches;
Creation of project schedules, and analysis of schedule and cost risks;
Earned value analysis techniques for project monitoring and control;
The course includes a great deal of practical work centred on a case study project, which is designed to engage delegates and maximise skills transfer to their own projects.
Delivery
This course is designed for in-house delivery to groups up to 12 delegates and can be delivered at any time to suit the organisation.
