PROJECT MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES

Duration: 2,3, or 4 days, in-house

The Project Performance Project Management Techniques course is designed to increase the technical project management skills of your staff in the disciplines with the greatest impact on outcome. The course is not designed merely to skim over the basics, but to provide understanding of project management techniques in the key areas of planning, risk management and project control. The course is available in its standard format, in-house, or can be tailored to suit the specific processes and procedures of your organisation.

The course is designed for staff who are currently engaged in or about to take on a project or programme management role, and others who will be involved with the planning and control of projects such as Senior Managers of project departments, Project and Programme Support Office staff and Planners.

The course can be adapted to meet the needs of your delegates by tailoring the depth and coverage of the modules. The course is therefore available in 2, 3 or 4 day versions.

Delegates on the course will leave with a practical understanding of
  •  The project business case, and the Project Manager's role in its maintenance
  •  Project team organisational needs
  •  Defining project scope
  •  Project Lifecycles
  •  Creating the Work Breakdown Structure
  •  Estimating
  •  Developing activity networks
  •  Critical Path Analysis
  •  Scheduling and construction of cost and schedule baselines
  •  Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Evaluation
  •  Earned Value Analysis and Reporting
  •  Project quality assurance and quality control
The course will be based on a fictional case study designed to enable delegates to participate in the planning, risk management and control of a project. The course therefore comprises a great deal of practical work in teams, designed to support and reinforce the learning gained during the lecture elements.
