This process is where the Project Board do their work. They are responsible for:
- approving the initiation of a project against a project brief, draft initiation stage plan and other documents produced during Starting Up a Project
- approving the commencement of work on the project's deliverables against a Project Initiation Document produced during Initiating a Project
- Monitoring the progress of a stage by reviewing Highlight reports, setting stage tolerances, providing ad-hoc guidance to the project manager, dealing with escalated issues and making decisions about exception situations arising during Controlling a Stage
- approving the start of subsequent stages of work against updated plans and other information produced during Managing Stage Boundaries
- approving the recommendation from the project manager to close down the project and ensuring this happens correctly during Closing a Project
